Although I was born and raised in Utah, I now call Aiken, South Carolina home. From 1991 until 1998 my family and I lived in Barnwell, South Carolina.

My wife Bonnie (Bass) Gibbons and I have been married for 38 years. We met at BYU during our second year of college. Bonnie grew up in Columbia, South Carolina. When it came time for me to attend law school we decided to move to South Carolina.
We are the proud parents of four children, Amber (Gibbons) Dunn, Brooke (Gibbons) Merrill, Madison Gibbons, and Logan Gibbons. We are also delighted to be the grandparents of 7 wonderful grandchildren.

All of our children attended public schools, worked hard, and earned academic scholarships. Our daughters all graduated from college with honors, and our son is in his third year of study.

Senator Garn, President Reagan, Senator Hatch, my parents.
I was raised in a family that took public service very seriously. My father was the only doctor in our rural town for many years. He rarely had a night when he wasn't called out to deliver a baby, treat accident victims, or make critical house calls. He did all of this while still finding time to raise 5 active children, and serve as mayor of our community. Upon leaving his practice, he donated our home and surrounding land to serve as a sattelite campus for Utah State University.

My mother was a part-time nurse at my father's clinic, a successful realtor, and was very active in state and national politics. She served as Republican National Committeewoman, and later was on the Presidential scholar committee in Washington, DC.

My parents taught me that public service is a sacred trust, an honor, a privilege and a duty.
